E190 Epoxy Composite Repair Kit
The E190 Epoxy Composite Repair Kit contains Sylmasta E190 Brushable Epoxy Resin and Fibreglass Tape. When used in conjunction, the two products make high-strength, versatile patch repairs to pipework, tanks, vessels and corners where direct wrapping of a composite repair bandage is not possible.
E190 Brushable Epoxy Resin is either brush applied directly onto surfaces and overlaid with Fibreglass Tape, or coated onto strips of Fibreglass Tape which are then applied to areas requiring repair. The open weave of Sylmasta Fibreglass Tape allows the resin to easily saturate the fabric.
The resin-soaked Tape will cure to form a rock-hard, impact resistant outer shell which improves pressure resistance, chemical resistance and hoop strength. It repairs areas of damage caused by pitting and offers excellent protection against corrosion, even under seawater immersion.
Patch repairs do require more skill than straightforward wrapping with SylWrap Pipe Repair Bandage. The advantage is repairs can be made to inaccessible pipes, difficult shapes, corners and multiple areas of damage. A single SylWrap Bandage in contrast only covers on section.
E190 Brushable Epoxy Resin is effective on metal, wood, GRP and other composites. It is temperature resistant to 100ºC has a 30-minute work time, allowing careful application over difficult geometries without the threat of premature curing.

E190 Epoxy Composite Repair Kit Details
One Kit contains three 225g packs of E190 Brushable Epoxy Resin, one roll of 100mm x 10m Fibreglass Tape, along with mixing cups and brushes for the application process. The quantity of products allows the Kit to be used for multiple patch repairs.
Before making an epoxy composite repair, surfaces should be free of paint, rust and grime before being roughened up through either grit blasting or grinding with a coarse wheel or abrasive disk pad.

Part A and Part B of E190 Brushable Epoxy Resin are mixed together at a 2:1 ratio by weight or volume. Once thoroughly mixed, it is applied using a brush to the surface being repaired.
A layer of Fibreglass Tape is wrapped over the resin and another coating of E190 added on top of the Tape. The application continues in this way until enough layers have been built up to satisfy the repair, followed by one final coating of E190.
For applications where there is not enough room to wrap Fibreglass Tape – such as in confined spaces, around joints and fittings, or tank repairs – strips of Tape are cut off and pressed onto surface coated with E190.
Alternatively, the Fibreglass Tape can be coated in E190 and then applied to the substrate. Full instructions and guidance for different repair methods are available on the Technical Data Sheet.
E190 Brushable Epoxy Resin has a work time of 30 minutes and a hard dry of 16 hours. A full cure is achieved in 24 hours, although exact timings are dependent upon the thickness of the application and temperature. Its gel-like consistency means it does not run when applied to vertical surfaces.
